Autism & Communication

Communication and sensory differences accompany an Autism diagnosis. At SORO every treatment plan is developed to support a child’s individual differences, reveal their developmental potential, build communication and increase their participation in all settings. Sensory differences influence the way a child experiences and interacts within their environment. Therapeutic interventions that support sensory differences improves how well a child is able to process language.

Therapy at SORO increases a child’s access and use of language. In our therapy sessions, we prioritize supporting the sensory system and increasing regulation. We specialize in relationship-based play models that improve a child’s readiness to learn language.

Therapy sessions focus on meeting children where they are, honoring their strengths, and supporting their individual differences while helping them climb the developmental ladder.

Improving the Parent-Child Relationship

All children desire connection and most caregivers are eagerly waiting to connect with their child. Individual differences need to be supported in unique ways to increase access to meaningful connection. At SORO, we enrich parent-child interactions with hands-on caregiver training in sessions. We address connection and regulation at the very start of therapy and teach caregivers how to do it too!

We show caregivers how to increase authentic interactions with their children during therapy sessions, resulting in more natural communication across settings.

Treatment plans are highly individualized to support greater communication, improve peer relationships, and increase participation in learning and home environments.
